Whitburn's AGM

Will take place on Sunday 11 May at 10:30 in the Social Club.

Whitburn out of Dechmont Forklift Truck Cup

Whitburn lost by the odd goal in 5 at Linlithgow tonight despite takin an early lead. John Murphy fired home a shot from the edge of the box with only four minutes gone and it looked as though Whitburn were on course for a rare cup victory against their old enemy as they dominated for much of the first half hour. The game turned in the 37th minute when Stewart Walker brought down a Rose forward wide on the left of his box for which he was booked. Brain Carrigan made no mistake from the spot kick and McArthur converted a Grady cross at the far post to put Rose 2-1 up 3 minutes later. In the second half Whitburn barely kicked a ball in anger until around 15 to go as Linltithgow tried to press home a further advantage. Around this time Colin Strickland came on for Andy Roberts and he would eventually get a consolation back in injury time with a beautifully curled shot from the edge of the box. Unfortunately in the 86th minute Carrigan had netted his second with a tap in after good work (but rotten defending form Whitburn) by Grady. Once again a Rose team who have allegedly not been playing very well raised their game a few notches for the visit of Whitburn and were deserved winners in th end.

Whitburn win to keep up pressure at the top

Whitburn ran out 3-0 winners against Tayport today at Central Park. Colin Strickland was back in the team after his bad leg gash at Kelty and though he only lasted 15 minutes he managed to open the scoring with a good shot from the edge of the box after an Alan Flanagan cross had been headed out to him. This had followed an early scare when Dean Rennie hit the post from a good position. Andy Roberts, who had replaced Strickland, doubled the lead when he headed over Fraser Kitzpatrick in the visiting goal from a good early Darren Moonie cross. Whitburn continued to dominate in one of their best recent performances and it was no surprise when a third goal was scored by Alex Lurinsky with another beautifully curled shot from the left side of the box, much like his strike from last week. Match report.

This win took Whitburn second top of the league since Lochee won 4-2 at home to Camelon, who now go third. Bathgate went down 3-1 at home to Glenrothes, Kelty and Linlithgow drew 2-2 and Bonnyrigg hammered Hill of Beath 6-2. These results leave Carnoustie almost certain to be relegated with Oakley unless they can beat Whitburn in their final league game and Hill of Beath lose their three remaining games.

Two new signings for Whitburn

Whitburn have recently signed two player to supplement their small squad. The first is Alex Munro, a midfielder who was signed after returning from a soccer scholarship in the States. The second is a name well known to Whitburn - Stuart Kenny who left the team a couple of years ago for Bo'ness and whom was signed from Sauchie. Welcome to both players and hopefully they can play their part in bringing some silverware to Central Park
