Next game
Whitburn's next game will be a Fife and Lothians 2nd round tie at home to Thornton Hibs on Saturday 13 February with a 2:15 kick off.
Whitburn lose at home
Whitburn went down to a 2 goal defeat against Lochee on a very heavy Central park which saw its first action in 2 months. Both goals came in the second half after a fiercely competitive first in which both teams came close to opening the scoring with Steven Weir being the closest for the burnie. The first came from Craig Robertson as he in the 66th minute when he broke through and hit a left foot shot that seemed to roll over the line with Ryan McGurk rooted to the spot. The second saw Colin Leiper stumble to let Paul Blackwood in and from a very acute angle he shot under the body of McGurk and into the net. Match report.
Pictured above right are our two mascots for the day - Alan (left) and Steven who both play for Whitburn Bluebell. More pictures. More mascots.
Forthcoming Fundraising
Friday 19 February will see the club run its first Burns Supper event. Tickets for this will be priced at £12 which will include the proverbial Haggis, Neeps and Tatties meal and various Burns related entertainments. So please if you can, support the club in this venture and get a little culture into yourself at the start of a new year! All are welcome.
The Ladies section have advised of two events coming soon for which they would be grateful for home baking and prizes. First up is another Coffee Morning on Saturday 20 March from 10-12. Then on 27 April there will be a Pie, Peas and Bingo night which starts at 7:30. As always any support that can be managed will help to keep the club afloat in these difficult times.
Transfer News Richie Carson has been transferred to Armadale Thistle. Although he has not played for the club since early last season, Richie was still on Whitburn's books and we'd like to wish him well with his new club.
Can you help?
The club are looking for sponsorship to fund new track suits for the players. If you know of anyone who would be willing to help (or indeed be the sponsor) then please get in contact either via the website or direct to Ralph Murphy on ralphmurphy57@yahoo.co.uk.

Forthcoming Fund Raising Events
Keeping the club solvent is an ongoing battle as we retain most of our talented players who have to be paid at Super League rates. Gate money is no enough to pay the weekly wage bill so we have to rely on various fund raising events through out the year. This year is also Stewart Walker's testimonial year so there are additional events for this to raise some money for our faithful goalkeeper. Here is a list of what to look forward to and it is hoped that everyone will pull together to make these profitable for both Frankie and the club:
Feb 19th 2010 Burns Night.
March12th 2010 Race night ( Frankies Testimonial )
April 2nd 2010 Casino Night
May 7th 2010 Quiz Night - Organised by The Supporters Club
